PSG and the Neymar case: It doesn’t have to be a farewell
PSG are not going to auction off Neymar, nor are they going to work around his exit from the Parc des Princes. There have not been any offers for the Brazilian either.
In the French capital, they are surprised by the way in which PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s words have been interpreted in the media, following his meeting with the French magazine France Football.
« No one forced Neymar to sign here, » was one of his announcements to the magazine.
However, from inside PSG they believe that the message from Al-Khelaifi is clear and shows that they want Neymar to stay, so long as he adheres to the call for more discipline, order and respect for the club. The Qatari reiterated that it was Neymar who was quick to come to PSG from Barcelona in the late spring of 2017, and that he has an agreement to regard with the Parisians until 2022.
When asked if Neymar is still committed to the project at Paris Saint-Germain, Al-Khelaifi was confident.
« Sure, but like the others, » he stated.
« Nobody constrained him to sign here, nobody pushed him, he intentionally came here to shield a task. »
The interviewer then enquired about whether that means that PSG would hold Neymar back this summer, on the off chance that he needed to leave.
« No, I didn’t say that, » Al-Khelaifi responded.
