Porto contemplate a replacement for Casillas
Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, the president of Porto, has hinted that the club are in search of a goalkeeper to replace Iker Casillas, following the Spaniard’s ongoing heart assault.
The former Real Madrid captain suffered the heart attack during a training session and was sent straight to the hospital, where he stayed until he was released after his condition was settled and he was out of threat.
« We have an extra problem with Casillas, with whom we had renewed [his contract] and we did not think that we would need a goalkeeper, but at this point we believe we’re going to require one and we’re likewise managing that case, » Pinto da Costa told O Jogo.
Neither the club nor the player have confirmed anything about his future, but Porto are searching for another No.1 for next season.
The Porto medical team have already warned that his return to professional football would depend on his recovery, his response to the drug and the player’s own will.
