Official: The dates for the new look Spanish Super Cup
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have approved changes to the Spanish Super Cup from next season at the association’s AGM on Monday.
The competition will be played in January 2020 and will feature four, not two teams, for the first time ever. It was already a two-legged issue between the group victors and the container champs, played in August.
Four teams will now make the Super Cup. They will be: the two finalists in the Copa del Rey and the top two teams in La Liga. For the situation that there’s a cover, the most noteworthy put group not in the Copa del Rey last will qualify.
As things stand this season, F.C Barcelona, Valencia C.F, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid will be the four teams who take part in the competition in January.
