Maurizio Sarri wants Kovacic to stay at Chelsea
Chelsea may have a question mark over their future transfer activity after FIFA handed them a ban for the next two windows, but manager Maurizio Sarri needs to keep hold of Real Madrid loanee Mateo Kovacic.
The London club will have their appeal against a two-window transfer ban heard on April 11, and if the boycott is lifted, Sarri is quick to seek after a perpetual arrangement for the Croat, who is on a one-year loan deal at Stamford Bridge.
« I know that he is on loan but I would like to keep him, » Maurizio Sarri said.
« I would like if he stayed with us because you know that that is a problematic area for us and we just have Jorginho to play there.
« In my opinion Kovacic can become a great midfielder, of course he is not a defensive midfielder but in that position I do jump at the chance to have an in fact talented midfielder. »
