Manchester Utd make Raphael Varane No1 summer transfer target
MAN UTD have identified Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane as their top transfer target this summer, as indicated by reports.
The Red Devils are desperate to land a centre-back and have drawn up a five-man back-up list should a move for the French star by and by breakdown.
According to a report from the Daily Star, United are keen on a move for Napoli defender Koulibaly but Raphaël Varane
remains top of their wishlist.
The Red Devils also have four other players on their radar including Harry Maguire, Milan Skriniar, Toby Alderweireld and Alessio Romagnoli.
Old Trafford legend Wes Brown said: « The dream defender for United would be Rafael Varane. He would cost a great deal and it would should be an ideal choice for United. »
Raphaël Varane has been linked to the club since Jose Mourinho was in the hot seat and it was reported that the United’s board were set up to burn through £100m to sign him in January.
Napoli ace Koulibaly has been a firm target for the Reds since last summer and they are accepted to be never going to budge on landing him this time around.
Also on their wishlist is Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld, who was continuously linked to United last summer, however the club’s board vetoed the move for strategic reasons.
Spurs have now invoked a clause in the 29-year-old’s contract to extend his deal with the North London club until 2020 and he presently has a £25m discharge statement.
Leicester’s Harry Maguire is also in their sights with Solksjaer full of praise for the 25-year-old England star following United’s 1-0 prevail upon Claude Puel’s side on Sunday.
