Manchester United fans will be enchanted with Roma set to make Ashley Young offer in January
ROMA are tracking Ashley Young and ready to make a bid for the Manchester United star in January.
The 33-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and United have offered the flexible star another one-year bargain.
Young was in a similar position earlier this year when the club left it until March to trigger their one-year choice on the previous Villa man.
However, this time with no 12-month option in play, Young is responsible for his very own future and is in no hurry to concur crisp terms regardless of being given the commander’s armband as of late.
And that has alerted the Italians who are keen to bolster their squad in January to push for Champions League capability one year from now.
Roma chiefs are preparing a cash offer for the England universal when the winter window opens.
If the Serie A outfit fails to thrash out a deal with United, they could tempt Young and his representatives with a worthwhile offer to pen a pre-contract enabling him to leave Old Trafford a free operator next summer.
Should Young depart, many Manchester United fans will be happy to see him go with supporters feeling the club is showing a lack of ambition by offering the veteran a new deal.
When news broke a new deal was on the table, one enraged fan remarked: « Energy came in and disposed of the deadwood straight away we’re providing food for has-beens. »
Another raged: « And yet… we just keep rewarding mediocrity! Beyond any doubt give him a compensation rise while we are grinding away! »
One more supporter added: « This is why we are where we are. Extending players contracts who ought to have left the club years back!! »
