liverpool 2 – 0 porto : Liverpool overwhelm Porto to exploit
Liverpool will fancy their chances of progressing to the Champions League semi-finals after they picked up a comfortable 2-0 first leg win upon Porto at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino gave the Reds a two-goal cushion with less than half an hour played and, crucially, they proceeded to abstain from yielding, setting them in a solid position in front of their outing to Portugal.
James Milner got the move going for their first, as he switched things to Sadio Mane who, in turn, picked out Firmino in the box, enabling the Brazilian to tee up Keita and it was his shot that redirected far from Iker Casillas.
The assist-maker then got his own goal midway through the principal half.
Patient play at the back ended with a threaded ball from Jordan Henderson to Trent Alexander-Arnold and he fired a low ball crosswise over objective, leaving Firmino with a tap-in into an open net.
That was how the score stayed, giving Porto a mountain to move next Wednesday.
