L’Équipe reveals details of the contract Griezmann will sign with Barça
French newspaper L’Equipe has revealed the details of the contract on offer to Griezmann in the case that he joins F.C Barcelona subsequent to affirming he will leave Atletico Madrid this mid year.
In France, they say Barça are in pole position ot land Griezmann and that they’ve offered him a five-year bargain worth 17 million euros net for every year.
The base of the negotiations goes back to last year, when the Atletico forward turned down Barça and focused on the Madrid club by means of a narrative called The Decision.
Griezmann told Atletico’s hierarchy on Tuesday, though, that he will leave the club at the end of the season and later posted a video via web-based networking media disclosing his choice to the club’s fans.
If Barça is his next destination, he will pen a deal with the Catalans until 2024 according to L’Equipe. His salary of 17 million will be less than the 21 million he makes at Atletico Madrid, but he will make more in sponsorship and showcasing at Camp Nou.
Talks advanced after Atletico’s loss to Juventus in the Champions League. The reports in France propose things were tied up late in March.
Barça — or whoever signs Griezmann — will have to pay his release clause to the group when it drops to 120 million euros on July 1.
