Five star Liverpool thump Huddersfield to send F.C Barcelona a timely warning
Liverpool sent a warning to Champions League opponents Barcelona as they warmed up for Wednesday’s Champions League conflict at Camp Nou by pounding Huddersfield 5-0 at Anfield.
Already relegated Huddersfield did not put up much of a fighting, falling behind after just 14 seconds when Salah teed up Naby Keita. Mohamed Salah went on to score two of his own, with Mane likewise stowing a support at Jurgen Klopp’s side moved back to the highest point of the table.
Man City can return to the lead if they beat Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday with the Premier League title race set to go to the wire.
City have the advantage of only having to focus on the league after being knocked out of Europe, but Liverpool now have to switch their attention to Barça. They travel to Catalonia one week from now for the primary leg of their Champions League elimination round tie against Ernesto Valverde’s side.
Valverde won’t have needed the warning but Friday was another example of Liverpool’s power in attack — even without the injured Firmino. Mane scored two headers, while Salah scored a delicate lob and a second from close range. Full-backs Robertson and Alexander-Arnold were by and by amazing. The previous set up two objectives and the last one.
The win means Liverpool remain on track for 97 points this season if they win out. Tragically for them, if City win every one of their recreations, they will hit 98.
