Diego Simeone: Barcelona got fortunate with their leveling goal
Diego Simeone said his Atletico Madrid side needed fortunes as they were held to a 1-1 draw by league leaders Barcelona at the Wanda on Saturday.
Atletico looked on course for the three points when Diego Costa headed them into the lead with 15 minutes to play however Ousmane Dembele equalised in the final minute. Simeone felt the France forward’s goal had an element of fortune to it.
« It was an intense diversion, shut, without numerous odds for either group, » he said. « Not even on the counter-assault was their much space. The game came down to the little details, whoever made a mistake, lost .
We had the preferred standpoint yet we come up short on some luckiness, on the grounds that the [Dembele] objective hit Oblak and Lucas’ legs. »
Simeone didn’t care for it when a columnist at that point recommended Atletico had gone out for the draw. « Who went out for the draw? Where’s that written? What you say is just an opinion, » he replied, visibly annoyed.
The coach added: « I liked everything about my team. There were submitted, they filled in as a group… I’ve just saluted the entire squad. »
At long last, he commended goalscorer Costa, who got in La Liga out of the blue since February: « He had an issue and requested the change. But he’s an animal. When he’s on the pitch, we have more chance of winning. »
