Celtic star James Forrest needed by Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp weighs up £8m transfer
LIVERPOOL are back on the trail of Celtic wing ace James Forrest.
SunSport understands Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has been tracking the 27-year-old’s shape for a while.
Klopp — on course to bring the English top-flight title back to Anfield for the first time in 29 years — isn’t hoping to make signings amid the January window but is weighing up potential summer catches.
And Forrest’s impressive 17-goal haul for Celtic and Scotland from 38 games this term has caught his consideration.
He is a key piece of Brendan Rodgers’ group and under contract until 2022, meaning Celtic would demand at least £8million for the Scotland star.
In the interim, Olympiacos supervisor Pedro Martins has told Celtic to forget signing Omar Elabdellaoui.
SunSport uncovered the Hoops were tracking the Norwegian full in a potential £4m bargain.
But Martins says he is focusing on winning the league and won’t risk that by selling any players.
