Valverde: Alena has accomplished all than enough to be in the first team
Barcelona beat a plucky Villareal side to go top of LaLiga Santander with goals originating from Gerard Pique and youth Carles Alena.
In the wake of seeing his team get through an extreme diversion, Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde gave glowing references about some of his less praised players, including Alena.
« It’s a first goal for him…he has done more than enough to be in the first team, » applauded Valverde.
« He’s come on for us bringing a fresh impetus at a crucial stage of the game. »
Valverde, talking at a post-coordinate question and answer session, rushed to single out Ousmane Dembele for having had an impressive game.
« He’s had a best game, he really stood out today, » said Valverde.
« He has such huge numbers of attributes…running in behind, shooting, speed, dribbling, poise, audacity; we should trust that he props this dimension up in the following couple of recreations […] we’re really happy with him today. »
About another player, Philippe Coutinho, who didn’t have such an impact and was replaced due to injury, Valverde took a businesslike mentality.
« No doubt that we all look to those players that we need more from, » said Valverde.
« Coutinho has come back from an injury and had a great game in Milan…we may need to watch out for him to check whether there is any crisp harm. »
