Chelsea future target Krzysztof Piatek
Krzysztof Piatek is hopeful that his striking structure for Genoa this season will bag him a big-money move to one of Europe’s top clubs.
Piatek, a summer signing from Polish side Cracovia, has effectively discovered the net multiple times in 12 Serie An appearances – making him the division’s top scorer.
Premier League duo Chelsea and Liverpool are both tracking the Poland international – who has scored a greater number of goals than Cristiano Ronaldo this season.
Also, Piatek, 23, is prepared to move clubs again – so he can realise his ambition of playing in the Champions League.
He told Corriere della Sera: « I do feel a little like Christopher Columbus.
« He set out on an experience from Genoa and the dream of any young player coming here is to use it as the starting point for a step up to a big club.
« In the event that I proceed with along these lines, I could sign for a major club. My objective is to play in the Champions League. »
He continued: « I don’t come near him now, but I think one day I can reach the level of Robert Lewandowski.
« Genoa are a major club, but not among the strongest teams in Italy at the present time.
« It’s far easier to score objectives at Real Madrid or Juventus. »
Regardless of blasting on to the scene, Piatek stressed he still has a « long road ahead » and will ensure he remains level headed if he wants to make it to the simple best of world football.
He explained: « When you play in Serie A, it’s essential to keep an unmistakable head and utilize it for something beyond scoring goals.
« It’s so wrong when a few players think: ‘I scored five objectives, consequently I am a God of Football.’
« You’re nobody. It’s a long road ahead.
« Genoa and the President Enrico Preziosi gave me this incredible shot and the best way to repay them for the faith and investment is with goals. »
