Borussia Dortmund make eye-watering £424.1m from sales in last 3 years
Dortmund have made an astonishing £424.1million pounds in player sales from the past three seasons alone – and still sit best of the Bundesliga.
Christian Pulisic turned into the latest Westfalenstadion star to depart in a stunning £58m move to Chelsea.
The pinnacle was Ousmane Dembele’s £135.5m move to Barcelona in August 2017.
That remains the third most expensive transfer in football, behind Neymar’s £198m switch from the Nou Camp to Paris Saint-Germain and Mbappe’s £158m move to the Parc des Princes.
Arsenal crushed their club record to arrive Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January last year.
The Gabon striker – who is joint top scorer in the Premier League this season alongside Harry Kane with 14 – touched base on an expense of £56m.
Arsenal had two bids rejected before that and Auba’s arrival came eclipsed the £46.4m the Gunners paid for Alexandre Lacazette the past summer.
Furthermore, it would seem that English clubs have been among those most willing to fork out big bucks for Dortmund’s talent.
Arsenal winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan cost Manu £25m and Man City paid around £20m to arrive Ilkay Gundogan in the 2016-17 season.
This battle, Arsenal again went to Dortmund to land Sokratis Papastathopoulos for around £16m.
And West Ham wrote a £17.5m cheque for Ukraine forward Andriy Yarmolenko.
