Barcelona were ‘hacked’ by Gil Marin
Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marinrevealed on Wednesday that Antoine Griezmann will move to Barcelona this late spring, finding the Blaugrana board napping.
Barcelona’s directors were not willing to announce the Frenchman’s signing until July, as they have been attempting to facilitate his landing in the club.
Following last season’s drama with Griezmann’s much-awaited decision that came through a documentary, certain individuals from the board and part of the changing area were not energetic with marking the 28-year-old this mid year.
Moreover, after Gil Marin’s comments, Barcelona have also lost the element of surprise, in spite of his exchange being an open mystery.
The Catalans are convinced that Griezmann will bring quality to the team and they were eager to prepare the ground and shift the public opinion in favour of the player.
The Atletico forward’s rejection last year wounded the credibility of the current board, who were sure that he would sign for Barcelona.
