Arsenal target Napoli star Kevin Malcuit as cover for crocked Hector Bellerin
ARSENAL are eyeing a move for Napoli right-back Kevin Malcuit as a replacement for Hector Bellerin, as indicated by reports.
The Spaniard suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Gunners’ 2-1 triumph over Chelsea.
Arsenal coach Unai Emery seems to think that the versatile Ainsley Maitland-Niles is not fit for purpose of replacing Bellerin long haul, and is looking somewhere else to facilitate his side’s cautious troubles.
And according to France Football, the Gunners are targeting Napoli ace Malcuit who joined the Italians the previous summer for around £11m.
Emery knows the potential of the 27-year-old defender, who he had a chance to observe as the Paris Saint-Germain coach when the right-back was playing for Lille and Saint-Etienne.
Having now settled down in Italy, Malcuit seems to be Carlo Ancelotti’s first-choice at the right flank and played full a hour and a half against Milan on Saturday – his twelfth Serie An amusement this season.
Although the Frenchman joined Napoli only seven months prior, and is under contract until June 2022, Arsenal are thought to have already tested the waters ahead of potential talks.
